Judith Utter is a prized Natural Science Artist known primarily for her paintings focused on Botanicals, Fish, and Birds. Judith’s Natural Science Illustrations and Fine Art paintings are collected across the United States and Internationally. Ms. Utter draws inspiration from the beautiful streams, lakes, rivers and mountains of the Adirondacks and St. Lawrence River regions where she resides and also her travels to other locations.
As an artist concerned about the environment and conservation of our natural resources, Judith takes a naturalistic approach to her subjects emphasizing detail, realism and beauty. Whenever possible an actual specimen fills a spot on her work table. Each subject is heavily researched and studied using several resources. Notes are taken on important specimen details then preliminary sketches and paintings begin the process. Ms. Utter works primarily in watercolor at times incorporating color pencil as well as pen and ink.
